Library Page – Cataloging

This is a part time position for the Gray Branch Library.

Characteristics of Work

Under supervision of the branch manager, this position will work closely with the Library Cataloger to process library materials in a timely and organized manner.

This position:

• Is a part time position. Up to 10 hours per week.

• Entry level pay rate: $11

• Will assist in the organization and processing of new library materials. Includes stamping the ownership information and date cataloged, placing label protectors on the books and putting book jacket covers and paperback covers on the books.

• Will comply with state training requirements.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

Education: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED)

AND

Preferred Experience: One (1) year or less of experience related to the above described duties. Related education and related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.


Physical Requirements

These physical requirements are not exhaustive. Corrective devices may be used to meet physical requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be possible.

•  Meets the minimum age requirements under State and Federal regulations.

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds from the floor to worktable height and must be able to reach all library shelves, using a stool or other extension device if necessary.

• Requires light work, including continuous walking or operating simple equipment for extended periods of time as well as occasional strenuous activities such as reaching, squatting, or bending.

• Incumbent must have the ability to climb a step stool and rolling ladder and move a book truck weighing 50-100 pounds.
