Jonesborough Library –
On Thursday, November 14th, The JGS will host Stephanie Hamilton Dwyer, with a program entitled “Social Media and Other Free Internet Sites for Genealogy Research” at the Washington County- Jonesborough Library, 200 Sabin Drive, Jonesborough, at 6:30 pm.
Stephanie Hamilton Dwyer has always been interested in family history. However, after her father passed away in 2011, her interest evolved into almost an obsession. In the first years, she often spent six to eight hours daily researching. After joining the National Genealogical Society, she completed many of its courses. In addition to research, Stephanie enjoys reading genealogy and history books and attending webinars. She joined the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2019 and is part of the State of Franklin Chapter. She is also a member of the Jonesborough Genealogical Society.
Stephanie created her first Facebook group to share her research with her father’s family. She later established two community genealogy groups and currently manages several other genealogy groups. In 2021, Meta invited her to join “Facebook Power Admins Global,” a group for the top one percent of group administrators worldwide. Being recognized as a “Power Admin” led to an invitation for Stephanie to study and test to become a Meta-certified community manager across all their platforms. She recertified in 2024. Stephanie is currently pursuing a certification in genealogy.
